Final 101 goal update

Lessons learned while doing the 101 Goals in 1001 days 
 
I’ve learnt that procrastination has to be dealt with daily and that if not dealt with will create feelings of failure. Planning goals is not enough but also knowing why you want to achieve a particular goal will help you to stay focused.  The upside is the feelings of satisfaction which are high when a goal is completed. i discovered that I am capable of doing more more than I expected but need a constant push or motivation to stay on track.  It’s unfortunate than I was unable to complete my challenge though I am proud of the fact that I was able to complete over 50% of the goal challenge despite the challenges I faced like not being employed for over 15 months during the goal challenge. I will continue setting goals and planning my life in my efforts to be a better person.

101/1001 Goal Update

I’m close to the end of my 101/1001 Goal Challenge and I’m no way near the end. With only a few more goals completed from the last goal update.  Most of the 10 goals completed goals are under the financial section of my goal. 

24. Stop dipping into my savings account.

This goal was difficult to complete but with a second income goal 29 in daily progress, its become easier not to take out money from my monthly savings.  
25. Have R 10, 000.00 at some point in my account
With my monthly savings increasing I was able to have R 10, 000.00 in my account even if it was just for two weeks. 
26. Save money.
I’ve always been saving money but this goal has pushed me to be more consistent with my savings and also to become aware of my spending habits. I continue saving money. 
27. Consult a financial planner.
This goal could have been completed earlier but I wasn’t working for a greater part of this goal challenge. I decided to speak to L who happens to be a financial planner (of course his clients make big bucks). 
29. Find a way to make a second income.
Since I got a full time job in October I’ve been working evening at my part time job.

48. Develop habit: Make sure there are no dishes in the sink before going to bed each night.
Even at 11 pm I find myself cleaning the dishes. 
49. Develop habit: Clean up clutter before going to bed each night.
I do the same as goal 48. 
60. Buy something I really want and give it to someone else. 
I’ve done this goal more than twice. 
86. Wake up at the first alarm. It’s probably easy because i wake up at 7:45 and not at 5 am. 
87. Have more than just cake for one of my birthdays. 2011/2012/2013
91. Buy only things I absolutely need for a whole month.
In looking to spend money better I had to be very diligent in my monthly purchases and try hard not to splurge.

Another (another) 101/1001 Goals Update

This update is a couple of days late. I planned to do a goal check-in every 6 months. I’m left with less 200 days and it’s becoming more difficult to complete the goals I set out to complete. Having been unemployed for over a year has been the main reason. Though I have more time on my hands I have no money as most of the goals require money to be completed. I am at 42/101 Goals with 3 that I’ve given up on entirely.  In 7 months I managed to complete only 6 goals which sadly is the worst I’ve done in my goal pursuit and my fight against procrastination. Fortunately I have friend who has offered to help me complete about 7 of the goals on the list. All I need is a bit of money to travel. I’m excited and even hopeful that my next 101 goal update will look better. 

Goals completed:
16. Go to concert.
37. Visit a museum. 
47. Develop habit: Fold clothes properly the first time round
57. Have a candle-lit dinner.
62. Volunteer my time. I occasionally volunteer at my church. 
81. Get dressed up for no good reason.

Goal 37. at Museum Africa

Goal abandoned:
51. Build up a nice alcohol collection.* I’ve decided to reduce my alcohol intake
