Coconuts have been around for a long time but somehow the trend of using coconut products has completely taken over health industry and even just recently caused some controversy. I’m not always one to jump on the latest trend without just cause. Just because everyone is doing it doesn’t mean I should do it too, which is probably why it me long to jump on the coconut water wagon.
Coconut water is a natural source of electrolytes and good for hydration and is everywhere these days I received two bottles of the Vitacoco brand one was the finishers drink at the Discovery947run and in the Wellness with Zando goodie bag.
Methods to drink it
Drink it straight from the bottle- this is not appealing to me, maybe my palette is not sophisticated enough to enjoy it this way.
As an elixir mixed with protein powder- This has been great for me especially after an intense workout and I needed a good recovery.
As a smoothie or smoothie bowl- I love smoothies and getting more out of them is the best for me. The higher quality ingredients the better.
As an ice lolly – I haven’t tried this yet but come summer I will. I’m looking forward to this as African summers can be quite hot.
